Lunch With A Legend.

Los Angeles, California.  Some will argue that it's the birthplace of the American Car Culture scene. From the Lowriders that cruised Whittier Blvd  to the early drags at the Santa Ana Dragstrip.  Southern California definitely has the roots to prove it!  The car culture scene has played a huge role on how many of us raised here have molded our lives around it.  Many of us grow up idealizing names like, Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, Sam and George Barris, Larry Watson, Gene Winfield, Von Dutch, and Gil and Al Ayala.  The Craftsmanship runs deep.  Many shops have come and gone over the years.  Some with little or no recognition.  So when I had the chance to sit down and have lunch with one of these legendary figures I had no doubt that I would take part in a once in a lifetime experience.  I'm talking about the one and only undisputed champ of Yoder Hammer MR. Red Twiet!  Having worked for California Metal Shaping for over thirty years at 92 Red is sharp as those early Kurtis roadsters and GT-40 bodies built in the days of  ol'.  So as we sat in the dining room looking through his photo albums and talking about working alongside Sam Barris and Leo Berger I couldn't help but bombard with him silly questions and snapping photos of those unbelievable moments captured in time.  ENJOY, because i sure did!
